Canon Digital Ixus 900 TI Review
Canon Digital Ixus 900 TI
Cameras compact and ergonomically satisfying, the Canon Digital IXUS 900 Ti does not suffer less from a lack of useful features offered by the IXUS 850 IS proposed at a similar price.
Design Canon Digital Ixus 900 TI
All orders are grouped back on the right side, so that almost every button is within easy reach of the thumb, where a shooting of an ergonomic hand. An LCD screen of 6.4 cm occupies nearly the entire space which remains at the rear of the aircraft, however, leaving enough room for an optical viewfinder. This is admittedly small and inconvenient, but it is a welcome alternative to the LCD.
Characteristics
While the 900 Ti does not lésine on the style, like most ranges SD Card, it is rather a chick features. You can adjust white balance, exposure compensation, ISO sensitivity and the method of measurement, but like any self-respecting auto, shooting is essentially automatic mode or modes scene of the device. You can take VGA resolution clips at 30 frames per second (fps) or XGA resolution (1 024 x 768 pixels) at 15 fps.
Unlike the IXUS 850 IS, with a wide-angle lens relatively fast, the 900 Ti is equipped with a model wearing a rather ordinary beach focal length of 37 mm to 111 mm (equivalent to a 35 mm camera) an opening of f / 2.8 f / 4.9. It incorporates the recent image processor Digic III, according to Canon, improves performance, image quality and autonomy in relation to the previous processor. We have not seen significant improvements compared to the cameras of the past generation, but it is true that the predecessors of the 900 Ti, the IXUS 60 and IXUS 65, already offer good performance and quality of image satisfactory.
Performances
The Canon Digital IXUS 900 Ti is moderately fast, especially for a 10-megapixel model. After a time which starts at 1.3 seconds, we were able to take a picture every 2.3 seconds. With the flash enabled, the interval between shots passes 3 seconds, which is honorable. The shutter seemed rather reactive, with a deadline of only 0.5 second under a strong light and 0.9 seconds in conditions of darkness. As might be expected, the burst mode is slow, taking a photo resolution optimal all 0.9 seconds.
Images
The IS 900 photos generally very satisfactory. Extremely net in the centre, however, they suffer a sharp loss of contrast on the edges, as is the case with many cliches competitors. This can lead to gleaming contours on objects. The colors are a bit cold but pleasantly saturated. As usual on Canon devices, automatic white balance failed to cope with our tungsten lighting that produces a warm light. The noise is negligible up to 400 ISO and manifests itself in the form of a fine-grained tolerable to ISO 800. However, at 1 600 ISO sensitivity, the images were bad, but it was predictable. The details have disappeared and the colors have turned into a coat made of artifacts static and shiny.
Canon Digital Ixus 900 TI Review
Cameras compact and ergonomically satisfying, the Canon Digital IXUS 900 Ti does not suffer less from a lack of useful features offered by the IXUS 850 IS proposed at a similar price. Unless you absolutely need the higher resolution, for example to make a big plane on a portion of a photo or for making prints more than 20 x 25 cm, you will probably be better served with the IXUS 850 IS, faster and with a stabilizer.
