Canon HF10 Review
High-end of video cameras AVCHD proposed by Canon. HF 10 records in Full HD on memory and chart flash. Its relatively high price intends it above all for in love with technology very last thing and wishing to have very a good quality of image in a compact apparatus.
The video camera Canon HF10 profits from a very tempting aspect thanks to its round forms. As always at Canon on its top-of-the-range apparatuses, the quality of the design is irreproachable and the excellent completions. Thus, in spite of its very light weight (380 G), it gives a general impression of luxury and robustness.
The oblong shape of Canon HF10 also enables him to shine in terms of ergonomics. The catch in hand is good and the majority of the orders falls easily under the hand. Only the button of recording can be a little difficult access, but you can use that rather being on the edge of screen LCD. The aforementioned screen will be in any event always open since the HF10 does not have sight.
Contrary at Sony which chose a system of tactile screen LCD on its video cameras, all handling on Canon HF10 is carried out in a traditional way via buttons and small a joystick of selection making it possible to sail in the menus. The latter give access many options, capable to satisfy the users wishing to profit from manual adjustments. A very automatic mode is however also available.
The presence of catches helmet and microphone makes it possible however to consider a professional use under certain conditions. The protect-objective is integrated into the video camera and opens and is closed automatically during the powering, which is very appreciable.
Canon HF10 is a video camera AVCHD, functioning either with its integrated memory flash, or with charts SD, on which you can record in high-definition with the format 1080i. The sensor is of type CMOS. It measures 1/3,2 of inch and offers a total resolution of 3,3 million pixels. In mode HD, approximately 2,07 million photosites are used.
The duration of recording on the integrated memory varies according to the mode of quality of selected recording. In video mode FXP it is encodeée in 1920×1080 pixels, and 2 hours and 5 minutes can be recorded on the integrated memory of 16 Go. In the other modes the definition is of 1440×1080 and the pixels are then stretched, as in HDV. Encoding AVCHD suggested is of type MPEG-4 for the video and Dolby DIGITAL for the audio.
The HF10 is equipped with a screen LCD to the ratio 16:9 of 6,8 cm diagonal, and with a long optical zoom 12x. This last benefits from a stabilizer of images optical (OIS) particularly effective. It makes it possible to mainly compensate for the inevitable tremors of the hand when such a light apparatus is used. The development automatic is fast and precise. A manual mode is also present but rather not very exploitable in practice. A photo mode makes it possible to record still images. Several definitions are available, going until 2048×1536 pixels. Canon HF10 is equipped at the same time with a flash for the photographs and a mini-torch LED for the video. This one is obviously not very powerful but makes it possible to repair when the conditions of luminosity are very weak.
The connector industry of Canon HF10 is irreproachable. It does not certainly have audio and video entries analogical, but this video camera is in any event not intended to act as video tape recorder. The presence of a catch HDMI makes it possible to connect it on all the television sets having the HD-Ready label.
You will be able to also admire your videoéos HD in full quality thanks to the exit in components. The transfer of the video files on computer is carried out thanks to port USB. Canon HF10 uses a InfoLithium battery whose average autonomy turns around 60 minutes according to the use. This one spends approximately three hours to be reloaded and requires for that to be connected on the video camera. It can thus be useful to consider the purchase of a battery long life in option.
In mode Full HD (FXP) the videoéos taken by Canon HF10 are of a clearness surprising for such a compact apparatus. The artifacts of compression are hardly visible, including under difficult conditions of catch of sight, like moving water surface for example. The colors are well returned. That is spoiled somewhat in conditions of weak luminosity, the more so as it is not possible to control the profit manually. But the greatest weakness in terms of quality of image comes especially from the weak latitude of contrast (or dynamics). One finds oneself thus very easily with images comprising of the zones of completely over-exposed high lights. The HF10 does not make it possible to post bars Zebra and it is thus necessary to control the exposure directly on screen LCD. A cinema mode and a progressive recording in 25P come to supplement the creative possibilities of this apparatus.
Canon HF10 is a video camera AVCHD which has very to like. Its quality of image in mode Full HD is very impressive even if she suffers from a weak latitude of contrast. It profits moreover from an excellent optical stabilizer which makes it possible to obtain an addition of stability and thus of clearness.
