Canon Ixus 65 Review
Combining a careful design and an obvious quality of manufacture, Ixus 65 is the new owner-occupation Canon for its range of ultra compact.
Verdict
Offering a well thought out ergonomics, the Ixus 65 produces high-quality images even in the most difficult conditions. It deplores the absence of a large angle, a somewhat limited autonomy and resolution of 6 Mpx.
The compact digital cameras called "jewels" are sometimes bad press because of their lower performance techniques. That said, with its range Ixus, Canon has demonstrated a great device could rhyme with good device. Good news: as a result of tests we made, the Digital Ixus 65 seems perfectly fit into the continuity. Admittedly, this new model is far from being free of imperfections but recognize that we have enjoyed the experience and appreciate the many strengths.
Canon Ixus 65 Review
From the grip of the camera, the quality of finishing delights. The metal and the line is a rather refined pleasure for the eyes. This construction allows the Ixus 65 take advantage of good strength. This is especially reassuring that the screen shines by its board comfortable diagonal, Canon has opted for a model of 3 inches (7.62 cm). Reverse of the Medal: it requires delicate handling, the risk of quickly showing scratches. The consistent size of the screen compared to the rather small dimensions of the device does not leave much room for buttons. Flanquées right of the screen, the buttons are few and small, which makes their selection for a user with large hands. Accordingly, the choice of directional pad is seen as essential. It offers quick access to key camera settings, options annexes are available by pressing the Menu button.
In Ixus 65 are fitted with a sensor only 6 megapixels, Canon seems to rely much more on image quality than quantity of pixels. A strategy that respects but could still play tricks the manufacturer. The race to the remaining pixels more topical than ever with the release of new compact cameras displaying resolutions of 10 megapixels. From a qualitative point of view, shots made with the Ixus 65 may be rather satisfactory. The color rendering is very accurate, neutral shades wish, without saturation exaggerated. So much so that some shots sometimes lacked a bit of contrast and a slight raising of colors. Nonetheless, it is the setting options allow you to adjust contrast, sharpness and saturation. Avoid, however, to resolve these parameters the maximum, you would have many surprises. Up to 400 ISO, digital noise is well managed. While apparent, he knows remain discreet and does not interfere with the clarity of images. At ISO 800, noise is present and the level of detail less. We recognize, however, that reading is still very correct and usable images. In conditions of very low light, it is preferable to use the built-in flash.
Côté objective, the manufacturer has chosen a 3x optical zoom covering a focal range of 35 to 105 mm equivalent to 35 mm. A compromise questionable qui ne permet unfortunately not benefit either from a wide angle for shooting landscapes, or a telephoto lens to make shots close. This model is intended ultimately more willing to family photo or evenings with friends. The 3x zoom and shows its limits in terms of freedom of composition. Even more problematic than the average sensor resolution does not really strong cropping when processing on computers. Good point on the other hand, for lovers of macro: the minimum distance of developing the Ixus 65 is 3 cm when you turn on macro mode. The results are very honourable for a compact, sometimes bluffant both the level of detail is high.
The Ixus 65 is also distinguished by several other features, such as the speed-up or manual functions available. But make no mistake: despite the presence of a mode called M, the camera does not give you the opportunity to manage your own settings of openness and speed. However, you can select a snap of a particular color or create a custom white balance. Note finally that the Ixus 65 works with a battery lithium-ion offering autonomy of a few hundred pictures. This fall quickly if you leave the screen turned on too long. For maximum comfort, acquiring a second battery of 760 mAh seems indispensable.
