Review Verdict Canon PowerShot A460
With its range reflex or Ixus, Canon has seen more inspired to APN. The A460 offers many benefits to withdraw its direct competitors, for a relatively high price. Besides the optical viewfinder and optical zoom, it is better to look elsewhere…
Replacing the A430, the A460 is a compact 5-megapixel unpretentious. With a massive body and long, it recalls the first APN. Available in silver, red and blue color is the only originality of this cabinet. By studying more carefully this device, however it is one of the few compact that price to offer an optical viewfinder. In fact, this is not a luxury, since the battery runs out so quickly that a novice rider on the Col de l’Izoard (after about forty pictures) with the electronic viewfinder. However, this 5 cm screen is smaller than that of other manufacturers.
Could this be due to a mechanical or electronic stabilizer? No, the Canon A460 is a guard. It should therefore be applied while taking photos. Nevertheless, it is one of the few compact this price range to offer a powerful 4x optical zoom equivalent to a 38 -152 mm camera on a 24×36. The buttons for zoom are also mixed with others, so much so that it gropes to find them.
Without being favourable to the escalation of the arsenal of pixels, the sensor is only 5 million pixels and especially does not provide a quality equivalent to the current comparable models. Thus, the photographs not only lack of sharpness but it unlike a noise visible even in low sensitivity. By way of comparison exposure to ISO 200 is similar to that of ISO 400 or 800 on other compact cameras. In video, low light does not forgive and the image is worse than on some phones. By the way, the videos are not fluent with only 15 recorded images per second.
