Canon DC40 Review

For the DCD 40, Canon has been particularly careful design. But that’s not all. This camcorder that records on DVD has all the commands and functions to achieve good quality videos.

Verdict Canon DC40
Fort Thursday extended its useful features, its speed recording, its attractive design and good quality video, the Canon DC40 ensure a place among the best DVD camcorders.

Good
attractive and functional design, quality of robust construction; quality video very satisfactory in broad daylight and surprisingly good in low-light conditions; comprehensive set of photo and video semi-manual.

Bad
LCD small; uses Mini SD cards rather than standard SD cards, video blinding light, no S-Video to convert analog video to DVD.

Canon DC40 Review

Canon DC40 Image Difficult to make a camcorder to a DVD recording particularly original … It is not so much that there are ways that combine the basic geometries of a cylindrical optical system, a DVD circular 8 cm and a rectangular LCD screen! In addition, the obligation positioning control which must remain accessible. However, Canon is doing its utmost to make you forget that its DC40 is composed of the same old elements.
To begin with, its plastic casing bicolore (champagne and brown, a brushed metal) gives it a pretty elegant. Moreover, despite the plastic, its construction appears relatively robust, a sentiment partly due to its weight of about 540 g. A strip of rubber this on top of the compartment to DVD allows you to grasp well the device. In this position, your right index comes naturally arise on the zoom switch, ready to reach the shutter of the camera, while your thumb has to stay on the record button.

The DC40 is not for the followers of any automatic. It is thus provided many external commands a model for the general public. Willing near the record button, slide the switch to the on / off / launch requires you to stretch somewhat the right thumb. Given the short time you will need this command being recorded, its location is appropriate. To use the switch that allows you to switch between photo and video modes, you must move your hand slightly. The menu buttons and functions, you will need to use more often require you to exercise or contortions of the right hand or to manipulate the left hand, as the navigation joystick lies on the left side of camcorder, you’ll have to make constant comings and goings of the left hand.
The joystick allows quick access to settings of exposure (exposure compensation, shutter speed or openness, depending on the mode in which you are) and manual focus. If you can quickly developed a rough, it is very difficult to use for setting more precise.

Under the LCD screen, Canon has placed orders for reading and buttons activation / deactivation of flash lamp and the video, and the battery (inside the camcorder). It is an ideal location, too rarely exploited. Given the size of the screen (7 cm), icons, menus DC40 can be difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the viewfinder is too small and not flexible at that. In other words, it is not really an alternative. If you have a bad sight or wear glasses, try the DC40 before purchase.

Characteristics
Canon DC40 Review As Sony, Canon considers that a DVD camcorder premium must offer a variety of features. Canon focuses on the manual controls and photo options. Although the Canon DC40 is endowed with a modest 10x optical zoom, it offers a setting to open between f / 1.8 and f / 3 and accepts the additional optical 37 mm. The resolution of videos recorded in 16/9e is just less than 3 megapixels, while the sequence 4 / 3 operating at about 3.5 megapixels. The photos they receive about a full resolution of 4 megapixels. Like all its competitors, the DC40 can record 20 minutes of video quality on a Single DVD. The Canon camcorder models support DVD-R and DVD-RW 8 cm and includes Roxio MyDVD.

The modes of Aperture-priority and shutter, the many scene modes, auto white balance and image some effects are mostly at your disposal in video mode, as in photo mode. The DC40 also offers many valuable features, including a variable speed zoom and three constant zoom speeds, displaying a horizontal line superimposed (for those of us who are unable to keep a stable position), a neutral density filter and an integrated filter breathable. The two modes dedicated to low-light conditions, Night and Super Night, respectively merely to lower the shutter speed and activate the lamp video.

We regret that some orders may not be available for both the video for the photos. For example, some options reserved for photos, such as the selection method of measurement (evaluative, spot and weighted Central) would be very useful for video. Similarly, some options of how video would be perfect for photos, including the mode 16/9e and image stabilization. As the DC40 uses an electronic image stabilizer, you sacrifice a small part of your image 16 / 9 when it is active. At least the camcorder product is a real big screen image, rather than a video 4 / 3 flattened.

Performances Canon DC40
Canon DC40 The Canon DC40 product performance rather satisfactory for its category, despite the problem of registration deadline own the camcorders of this type. With a blank DVD préinitialisé, time to market is almost instantaneous. And it takes only a few seconds for the camcorder off, it’s a different story on initialization. The DC40 takes about 15 seconds to simply determine that a DVD-RW must be initialized and 35 seconds for formatting a DVD-VR (rewritable) or 20 seconds for a DVD-R. With a DVD-R partially completed, the camcorder requires a period of approximately 30 seconds. When you’re ready, it will take about two seconds between when you press the record button on / off and the activation itself.
Apart from performances related to its recording media, however, the DC40 operates evenly and quickly. It regulates the development quickly when you zoom in or make a view, that your subject is somewhat or very mixed. Moreover, he adapts quickly to changes in exposure. The zoom switch is relatively responsive: When you opt for a variable speed zoom, the goal moves from one end to another of the focal range at a glance. As speeds zoom constants, you have the choice between slow, very slow and appallingly slow, but it is surely one that you will have the greatest need. The electronic image stabilizer to compensate for slight movements printed camcorder.

Canon housed the microphone in front of the DC40, under the lens. Thus, it does not sound hollow produced by the zoom switch when you press it, neither felt good about the video annoyed. However, the audio quality is just correct, we regret that this camcorder does not control the volume.
The LCD 7 cm is a bit small and produces a rough image, but still legible in bright sunlight and moderately dark environments.

Image Quality
The playing videos recorded on a DVD player relatively new product images very good: sharp and saturated with an exhibition and a white balance accurately. Since you do not have zoomed, nor carried out a pan too quickly, the movement artifacts are rare. However, a rudimentary device several years old jumped images randomly. Even if the problem is probably due to the player and his inability to correctly read DVD-R, it is better to be notified.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of videos shot in low light conditions. Admittedly, the image is rough, but is exploitable and colors are sufficiently restored to appear realistic. The powerful video lamp illuminates to about 2 m, but if you point to one person, it will automatically be dazzled and grimacera.
The pictures share the same characteristics that make videos attractive: saturation, exposure and white balance satisfactory. However, do not have the image stabilizer, you must manually set a shutter speed slightly higher to get sharp images. In automatic mode in clear weather, we failed to take a cliché enough net to print.

Canon HV10 Review

The HV10 is the first HDV camcorder general public proposed by Canon. It can record 1080i HD on mini-DV cassettes. Its relatively high price intends above all the fans who love the latest technology and with an HDTV.

Verdict Canon HV10
The Canon HV10 is an HDV camcorder that has everything to please but who suffers from some flaws ergonomics. Its image quality mode HDV is more than satisfactory even if it suffers from a low latitude contrast. An excellent optical stabilizer provides an additional stability and therefore sharpness very valuable.

Canon HV10 After Sony, it’s turn to propose a Canon HDV camcorder aimed specifically at a public amateur. The HDV technology has already proved its worth and Canon is therefore able to propose, at this first model, a comprehensive and effective product. The high definition is now a reality for many users and french Europeans who have HDTVs. The HV10 will fill all those who love to stay at the cutting edge of technology through its image resolution, which refers that of traditional camcorders to oblivion. The Canon HV10 is not free from some flaws.
The Canon HV10 surprised by his appearance a little square, which located midway between a camcorder format horizontal and vertical device. Canon beautiful state that HDV camcorder is the most compact market, it still remains relatively large compared to the compactness of certain models traditional mini-DV. As always at Canon, its high-end appliances, design quality is impeccable and excellent finishes. Thus, despite its rather light weight (440 g), it gives a general impression of luxury and ruggedness.

Canon HV10 2 The square shape of Canon HV10 is not really an advantage in terms of ergonomics. The grip is quite good in most cases, but it is quite problematic if you have large hands. Indeed, the zoom control is located too close and then it becomes very difficult to handle, without loosening the strap of the handle and lose a grip on the apparatus. This seems a detail, but may end up being very embarrassing because it directly affects the stability of the shooting. If you have large hands, we strongly recommend that you test the ergonomics of the camera from a dealer before making the acquisition. Nothing objectionable in contrast with regard to the rest of the manipulations. Unlike Sony, which has a touch screen LCD, all manipulations on the Canon HV10 done in the traditional way, via buttons and a selection wheel to navigate through menus. These are simplified as much as possible and therefore should not confuse a novice user.

The Canon HV10 and directed primarily at users who do not want s’embarrasser settings too complex. The lack of helmet and micro taken, although regrettable, is in use before any of the family unit. The lens, integrated camera, opens and closes automatically when power-up, which is very valuable.

The Canon HV10 is an HDV camcorder, operating with cassettes type mini-DV, where you can choose to save the DV format is a standard resolution 4 / 3 or 16/9e, or high definition 1080i format. The CMOS sensor type measure 1 / 2, 7 inches and offers a total resolution of 2.96 million pixels. In HD mode, approximately 2.07 million photosites are used, which allows the HV10 to propose a resolution images with exceptional. From this viewpoint, the HV10 does not disappoint. Despite its compactness, it does not issue HD signal at a discount. It is equipped with an LCD screen appearance 16/9e by 6.8 cm long and a 10x optical zoom. The latter enjoys an optical image stabilizer (OIS) particularly effective, which can compensate, in large part, the inevitable tremor of the hand when using a device as light. The AF is fast and precise. If you prefer to go to manual mode, Canon’s HV10 with a zoom feature which momentarily in the image in order to facilitate the development.

Canon HV10 Review

Canon HV10 3 A photo mode allows you to record still images on a miniSD card (not included). Several resolutions images are available, up to 2048×1536 pixels. They can be recorded simultaneously ways while you’re filming, or when you read your videotape. Photos can be transferred via the USB 2.0 camera and print directly from PictBridge function. Operations crop and retouch basic may, in this case, take place directly on the camcorder’s LCD screen. The Canon HV10 is equipped with both a flash for photos and a mini-torch LED for the video. The latter is obviously not very powerful but can troubleshoot when lighting conditions are very low.
Connection Canon HV10 we reserve the good times and bad surprise. The good is that the camera has audio inputs and analog video. The latter can connect your old analog camcorder or VCR and transfer the video to the DV format HV10. No miracle, however, you’ll be logically limited to the standard resolution.

The bad surprise is the absence of HDMI, what we think is particularly surprising for a camcorder that’s the technology. Remember that all televisions with HD Ready label are now equipped with such connections. You can obviously admire your videos in full HD quality through the exit component, but the lack of HDMI output nonetheless regrettable. The Canon HV10 uses an InfoLithium battery whose autonomy average is around 40 minutes depending on use. The Japanese manufacturer offers an optional battery of higher capacity and to double this period.

Let us turn to the essentials, namely the quality of high definition image. Again, the finding is somewhat mixed. In terms of defining the image, there is nothing to say. The videos taken by the Canon HV10 have a sharpness surprising for a compact camera. The compression artifacts are hardly visible including in shooting conditions difficult, as the water moving by example. The colors are well made. This spoils strongly in low-light conditions, especially since it is not possible to manually control the gain. But the greatest weakness in terms of image quality comes mainly from the low latitude of contrast (or dynamic). It is thus very easily with images with areas of high lights completely saturated. It is fortunately possible to display bars Mussels in the viewfinder or the LCD screen to identify those areas overexposed at the time of the shooting.

This is especially the first HDV camcorder general public signed by Canon and should be welcomed as such. It opposes directly to Sony HDR-HC3 and offers image quality and similar functions. It is therefore up to the level of ergonomics that are the differences, the Sony is equipped with an LCD touch screen while the Canon HV10 is set in a traditional way.

Canon XH A1 (and XH G1) Review

Canon XH A1 (and XH G1)
With camcorders A1 and XH G1, Canon offers two top models intended primarily to professional users and independent videographers. They employ technology HDV and offer a high definition image of very high quality.

Verdict
The Canon XH A1 and XH G1 are undoubtedly a great success from the Japanese manufacturer. They can generate one of the best HDV images that we have been able to observe.

Canon now offers two versions more compact and interchangeable objective of his professional HDV camcorder, the XL H1. The XH A1 and XH G1 can also be seen as versions dedicated to high-definition camcorder XM2 who had known at the time, seducing many independent video. Canon offers two versions of this camcorder. The first, the XH A1, should suit most needs. With the most advanced model, the XH G1, it is primarily intended for professional users wishing to use the camera in a studio environment or shooting with multiple cameras synchronized. The XH G1 stands out in effect by the presence of an exit HD-SDI and a connector for syncing timecode.

Canon XH A1 Review

Design and Ergonomics

Canon XH A1 The design and ergonomics Canon XH A1 and XH G1 is unquestionably one of the strengths of these camcorders. Their black dress mat gives them a professional look and a feeling of strength emerges from the chassis of the aircraft. It is also reinforced by the relatively Therefore weight of about 2 kg. The battery has a lodge in internal compartment so that you are in the presence of a box very pleasant to use for followers of the frame with the camera wedged against his chest and using the LCD screen. Unlike their big brother, the Canon XL H1, it is camcorders not intended to be used in the shoulder. This range XH is directed primarily at professional users or very demanding fans. Its ergonomics was thinking accordingly. Concretely, this means that all essential settings of the image and audio are available directly through switches and buttons on the chassis. The number of buttons on the front will undoubtedly divert the first time and require adaptation based on past habits of the user. But once this grip it should be carried out more than a few seconds to intervene on exposure of the image, white balance, audio levels, the gain or developed. The most pleasant is undoubtedly the presence of three rings settings on the lens. The first is the development, the second to vary the focal length zoom and the third to set the opening of the iris. These rings are kind of floating, which means they operate without stop and without markings. This last point is probably a bit unfortunate but hardly surprising in this type of camcorder. But the possibility of regulating development, focus and exposure without having to change the placement of the hand is very valuable. The LCD is placed on an articulated arm and unfolds from the top of the chassis. It can thus be oriented around 270 degrees and allows all kinds of angles shots. Its size, 2.8 "(7.1 cm) is very small. This is fairly standard on Canon camcorders but here we seem to be one of the weaknesses of the models A1 and XH G1, especially as its resolution 207 000 pixels is not exceptional. The viewfinder is much better, and although color, should allow better control of the development. Aids manual focus, however, are present in the form a magnifying glass and a clipping function (peaking) outlining the contours. Recognizing the critical importance of developing a clear high definition, Canon XH models with a new system which Instant AutoFocus uses a sensor placed on the independent side of the goal.

Specifications

The XH A1 and XH G1 are HDV camcorders, operating with cassettes type mini-DV, where you can choose to save the DV format is a standard resolution 4 / 3 or 16/9e, either high definition format 1080i. They are equipped with the same sensor that the model XL H1, spearhead of the range at Canon HDV. It is a tri-CCD sensor measuring 1 / 3 "and offering a resolution total of 1.67 million pixels. The sensor is the format 4 / 3 and 1.56 million photosites are used to form the image HDV or DV format 16/9e. This is exactly the format HDV 1080i with whom, remember, each image is stored on 1440×1080 pixels which are then interpolated horizontally to get a display type Full HD 1920×1080. beyond figures, it is clear that the definition of images obtained is among the best that we have been given out with this type of sensor. The sensor is not everything and we must therefore also welcome the CPU Digic DV II, optimized for HD and benefiting from a system noise reduction. The quality of optics is obviously just as crucial and the XH A1 and XH G1 us semblée very good bill. The goal is a 20x zoom Series L, whose focal length ranges from 4.5 to 90 mm, which corresponds to a 32.5 – 650 mm equivalence 24×36. These camcorders can thus benefit from an angle particularly expanded without require additional optics.

Quality and settings of the image

The image quality offered by these two camcorders is simply exceptional and very close to that achieved with the XL H1. In terms of defining the image, there is nothing to say. The compression artifacts are hardly visible including in shooting conditions difficult, as the water moving. The colors are well made, with a very natural default. If you are accustomed to images of entry-level camcorders, the colors may seem somewhat dull, but they actually much more nuanced. Through personalization settings of the image, you can choose among several gamma curves and directly affect many other aspects such as saturation, detail, levels of black, the colors die, and so on. These settings can be stored in the form of personalized profiles and recorded on an SD card. Another strong point of these two models is their capacity in low light without excessive noise generated video. They are undoubtedly the very best present from this point of view HDV video and noise generated by the gain is quite acceptable to 9dB. In return, latitude contrast leaves something to be desired and we should not expect miracles from this point of view if you shoot scenes with shadows and very bright. The dynamics may be slightly improved by adjusting the knee (depending on compression in the high lights), may have more contours settled with the parties really cramées of the image. This requires special care for exposure to avoid overexposure. Finally, note the excellent performance of optical stabilizer of the image. A 25F mode can generate an image of the type progressive price of a slight loss of definition but which should appeal to lovers rendering image type cinema.

Ports and autonomy

Connection varies depending on models, but is in both cases rather complete. The only real false note is without doubt the lack of HDMI socket. In addition to the necessary ports DV / HDV, AV and headphone jack, the XH A1 also has a component video output, an outlet NACA and more rare but very useful in a professional environment, a composite video output with a BNC. On the XH G1 added ports HD-SDI, Timecode, and Genlock. Audio side, two XLR plugs can connect microphones professionals. A removable suspension is also offered with the device, which can accommodate a microphone from supplant or complement the microphone. An intelligent accessory shoe complements everything. An internal compartment can accommodate several models of battery capacity variables. The battery comes standard provides a range of approximately 5 hours.

The results of these two models are very similar to what you can achieve with their big brother, the Canon XL H1. Their compact compared to the latter fact does not lose much in terms of ergonomics and one can even say that Canon has been able to improve some aspects as the development, or adjustment of exposure. For the rest, the possibilities of setting the image are identical. If you lose the opportunity to change your goal, you win against a compactor, handling and discretion. Both models are successful when there is ultimately little to say.

Canon HV20 Review

After a first Full HD camcorder (HV10), Canon recidivism with the HV20. In a more traditional format, it takes wort characteristics of its big brothers professionals.

Verdict
With the HV10, Canon was the general public access to high definition. But competitors have emerged since apparatus equivalent bill. Canon takes a little advance through the HV20. It uses technology previously reserved for professional appliances. The home video into cinema. The viewfinder fixed or poor management, lack of light hinder some amateur videographers for certain shots.

Canon HV20 Review

canon-hv20A few months after leaving the HV10 – the first camcorder general public to register to 1920×1080 pixels-Canon unveils another device for amateurs. While the HV10 targeted discretion and a compact vertical design, the HV20 is a horizontal camcorder larger and heavier (535 g), but also more sophisticated. Unlike other HD camcorders, Canon is still cautious on the recording on digital media and focus on mini-DV cassette tested rather than the hard disk as on the latest Sony HDR-HC7 or memory card as on the Panasonic HDC-SD 1. The mini-DV has the advantage of being a removable medium, cheap and compatible with conventional assembly benches.

As with any camcorder, we find the connectivity classic videos. Taking mini-FireWire (commonly known as DV) cottoie the inevitable mini-HDMI connector. To exploit the high definition video on a TV HD Ready or Full HD, it will need to acquire a cable option. To transfer or printing (PictBridge) pictures, USB 2.0 is also available. If the headlamp (less powerful) or micro stereo are not enough, a shoe accessory is hidden at the top of HV20 and an external microphone input exists. All the buttons (zoom, recording, manual focus…) are well positioned for easy access, even in darkness. It regrets, however, it does not relieve an impression of strength as on most camcorders high-end Canon.

Canon has chosen not touch screen to navigate through menus. Navigating with the tiny joystick, not far thumb ensures a rapid customization tweaks (unless the equivalent Sony or Panasonic, however). The screen 16:9 by 2.7 inches (6.9 cm for approximately 211,000 pixels) with buttons succinct (reading, recording, zoom / fast forward front / rear) is pleasant to control the shooting but reveals sometimes too dark to distinguish details in low light conditions. Some amenities exist as displaying a gauge for evaluating the audio recording. In addition, it is regrettable that the eye on the Canon HV20 is fixed unlike the Sony HDR-HC7 or Panasonic HDC-SD1. The eye becomes useless even if one uses a battery of higher capacity because it will outstrip the hull of the camera away and therefore the eye of this monitoring device. The use of the screen becomes compulsory and consumes more battery. The autonomy is about an hour with the standard battery.

Canon HV20212With its CMOS sensor Canon HD 2.96 million pixels, the HV 20 is capable of recording a native resolution panoramic (16:9) 1920×1080 pixels, ideal for flat screens. By default, the images are interlaced at 50 frames per second, but it is possible to change settings to get a film made. " In place of the 24 fps film camera, camcorder converts 1920×1080 interlaced at 50 fps to 25 fps progressive. The record is very pleasant and gives the impression of seeing a real movie. This impression is even more striking with the movie mode that adjusts color, contrast, brightness… for a result "realistic cinema" like camcorders pro XH. This type of reporting was previously reserved for professional cameras (very expensive) or required treatment post production. If the responsiveness of its sensor is ultra-fast, to adapt to differences in brightness or make the development, the darkness is not its strong. A difference is the way "Super Night Shot" a Sony camcorder, the Canon HV20 is limited to 0.2 lux with rendering very noisy in low light.

With a sensor of 2.76 million pixels photo, you would think that the HV20 finally hoisted the photo quality digital camcorders at the height of digital cameras. But it appears that the shots did nothing extraordinary. The photos have the same record that some cameras on mobile phones… In addition, the optical zoom is limited to 10x against 12x on the Panasonic HDC-SD1, but it has the merit of being fast. The electronic board (DIGIC DV II processor and optical stabilizer in particular) makes particularly effective, however, the HV20 since these components are virtually the same as the professional models.

Canon HG10 Review

Verdict
Canon HG10 is a good HD camcorder to hard drive, but there are nevertheless some annoying flaws.Excellent image stabilization, excellent video quality.

Canon HG10 1The HG10 is significantly smaller than the HV20, but it has little lighter (570 g). And even though it weighs a little less than its main competitor, the Sony Handycam HDR-SR7, it is also a little higher. The case grey and money do not throw as far as the chassis almost entirely black SR7. However, the gain in height of the housing gives an easier and more comfortable.

To obtain a more compact camera, Canon has moved and redesigned a significant portion of orders. In some cases, the changes are welcome, including the general switch to zoom toggle, extremely smooth and pleasant, and the viewfinder expandable up to the eye. Other issues, such as the shield of the shoe-accessories, not attached to the box (both the cast right away, you end up anyway by misplaced), would have deserved to be modified but remained unchanged . The new multi-pad with key selection is much better with a touch screen. However, it is very difficult to use the directional pad without moving the scroll wheel, which ultimately makes navigation and manual focusing difficult. (Canon has also abandoned the wheel manual focus on the lens.)

Canon HG10 2The joystick of the HV20 is better placed. He resides in effect on the housing of the camera rather than part of the LCD. In other words, the HG10 requires you to shoot through the screen more often than necessary. A constraint unfortunate that not only accentuates the tremor, but also seeks much the battery.
The CMOS sensor 3 megapixels can record HD video native 1920 x 1080 pixels, which are then converted and interlaced format AVCHD, the resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels. It can also record videos of 1440 x 1080/24p. Its 40 GB hard drive can store between 5.5 hours of video at 15 Mbps and not less than 15 hours of video to 5 Mbit / s. As usual, however, we advise you to take the maximum level of quality, unless you are absolutely sure that you do not want to touch your videos. You can also save pictures of a 3-megapixel photo mode or extract snapshots of 1920 x 1080 pixels while you shoot a movie mode. It is quite ridiculous that the shots can be recorded on a MiniSD card, and not on the hard drive.

The Set button on this part of the screen called commands shooting, exposure compensation, the development and speed reading. In camera mode, you can also find the settings of the flash. In video mode, a button "Function" gives access to methods planned to shutter priority, Aperture-priority, Ciné (for a professional appearance, coupled with the shooting at 24 fps) and Night with slow shutter . A point of access, it also allows him to achieve some options white balance, different preset effects image, and setting color depth (for a postérisé), sharpness, Contrast and brightness, digital effects, video quality and size extraction shots. Regarding the photos, you have the choice between modes of evaluative metering, central weighted and spot, burst mode and bracketing, and various resolutions.

We would have preferred that three features, namely the priority development (which gives the choice between the development and focus mode Focus Canon), the AF mode (instant and regular) and speed zoom (variable plus three options constants) are more easily accessible. They are indeed a little too often used to be buried so far in the menus. Unless their existence (and name), you can go totally on the side. In addition, as with the HV20, you can not change white balance during the shooting, which is regrettable in scenes with multiple light sources.

With 6.85 cm, the LCD is the limit of what is exploitable on an HD camcorder, but it remains visible in sunlight and from various angles. The viewfinder up to the eye is almost too small, and its œillère rigid plastic is not very comfortable.

Canon HG10 The 10x optical zoom incorporates the image stabilizer SuperRange Optical Image Stabilizer Canon, which improves stability by providing continuous information system. From our point of view, it works very well and even better than most the maximum telephoto. The autofocus (AF) snapshot Canon uses an approach rangefinder. It reverberates a signal about the system to provide an approximate location AF, so that the objective sought to lock focus on an area smaller. The Instant AF helps accelerate a little blocking the development in low-light conditions. Even if just slightly, we believe that overall performance in low-light conditions (development and video quality) are a little better with this model that we have observed on previous Canon camcorders general public. The HG10 also has a zoom switches more practical that we have seen for a camcorder of this category.

You will not find nor ability Zoom Mic (adaptation of the audio perspective depending on the focal length), or volume orders of entry. On the other hand, you have a microphone and a built-in accessory shoe if you want to improve the audio experience (at an additional cost).

In terms of image quality, there is not much to say. The HG10 returns photos and videos net saturated and well exposed. It notes the presence of noise and blurring in dark areas and contours faded in the light areas, but no more than usual for a camcorder of this category.
